Food Intolerances and how they affect your health
Kinesiology food testing determines why and what foods are good or bad for you and the reason why you react to some and not others.
Todays fast life style and fast foods has brought with it a whole host of disorders which ultimately affects the quality of life. The ability of food to provide the beneficial nutrients to promote good health and growth is often inhibited because of poor digestion. Removing the obstacles stopping the organs of digestion from working allows them to function correctly to feed and nourish the body.
The importance of correct nutrition that is specifically tailored for each individual is often overlooked with the effects upon our health and well being.
But first of all, let me clarify the difference between an allergy and an intolerance.
Allergy
Rare
Adverse Reaction
Involves Immune System
Sudden
Life Threatening
Needs Urgent Medical Attention
Food Intolerance
Very Common
Less Severe
Poor Digestion
Undermines Health and Well-Being
Cravings
In the Long Term, Leads to Disease
A food allergy is an adverse reaction to a particular food (e.g. nuts, shellfish) that involves the bodys immune system. It can produce immediate symptoms like rashes or it can be sudden and life-threatening (called anaphylaxis) needing urgent medical attention. Food allergies affect just a few people.
A food intolerance, however, is very common. It is when you develop symptoms after eating a food that the digestive system cannot adequately process. It can take up to a week for symptoms to show up. The symptoms will be different to a true food allergy, and far less severe and serious, but they can undermine health and well-being in the long term. A food intolerance often tends to be to the foods we most commonly eat (e.g. wheat and dairy). In fact, we may find we crave the foods that we are intolerant to!
Should you have an allergy, you are likely to know of it!
The following information is about food intolerances, NOT allergies.
Common symptoms associated with food intolerances:
Recurring shoulder, knee, neck and other joint pains
Low Energy/Fatigue
Fluctuating Blood Sugar Levels
Asthma
Compulsive Eating/Food Cravings
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Abdominal Distension
Poor Concentration
Loose Bowel Movements or Constipation
Mood Swings, Depression and Anxiety
Eczema and other Skin Disorders
Excessive Wind
Weight Gain/Fluctuating Weight
Headaches
Irritability/Anger
Increased Mucus/Sinus
Bloated Feeling
And many more
If you have one or more of these symptoms, you may be intolerant to one or more of the foods that you eat. It's always worth getiing this checked out before resorting to unnecessary medication that masks the symptoms.
Food intolerances are extremely common!
It is estimated that there are over 8 million people suffering from wheat/gluten intolerance in Britain and around 5.5 million people in Britain with an intolerance to cows milk (Ref: Jonathan Brostoff and Linda Gamlin, The Complete Guide to Food Allergy and Intolerance).
A wheat/gluten intolerance has traditionally been difficult to diagnose as it is such a common food the body adapts to coping with it, hiding the intolerance. Some of the symptoms which a wheat or gluten intolerance produces are: aches and stiffness, depression and mood swings, anxiety, asthma, fatigue/tiredness, sneezing, runny eyes, runny nose, nausea, bloating, stomach cramps, sweating, sore/itchy throat, skin rashes and a swollen stomach.
Symptoms of lactose (Milk sugar) intolerance can include: hives, eczema, swollen lips, mouth, tongue, face or throat, dark eyes, itchy red rash, acne, sinus problems, abdominal pain and bloating, diarrhoea, vomiting, gas/wind, cramps, runny nose, sneezing, watery and itchy eyes, coughing, catarrh, wheezing and shortness of breath.
To help safeguard your body system and to ensure your food intake is not adding to your problems and making you feel worse, its wise to have it checked sooner rather than later.
Thats where Kinesiology comes in!
Brain Stomach Spleen/Pancreas Liver Gallbladder Kidneys Small Intestine Large Intestine

A Kinesiology food intolerance test is very thorough. Unless a food or substance can be metabolised by all the organs of digestion plus the brain, it will fail the test. Even if only one of the organs finds it difficult to metabolise a food or substance, it is still problematic, since it only takes one weakened organ to break the circuit of health.
Once problematic foods and substances have been eliminated, the body is no longer stressed and can begin to heal itself naturally.
People may become intollerant to certain foods for various reasons - lack of HCL or digestive enzymes are the most common as well as lack of certain vitamins and minerals .. or an an overload of the same food. For foods that you test intolerant to, I will also check whether adding HCL or digestive enzymes will make a difference. For foods that are in overload, it's best to eliminate for 6 weeks before slowly re-introducing.
