EFT Shortcut Tapping Protocol

Step 1. Tune in to the problem that you want resolving.

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

Negative emotions come about because you are tuned in to certain thoughts or circumstances, which in turn, cause your energy system to disrupt. Otherwise, you function normally. One's fear of heights is not present, for example, while one is reading the comic section of the Sunday newspaper and therefore not tuned in to the problem. Tuning in to a problem can be done by simply thinking about it. In fact, tuning in means thinking about it! Thinking about the problem will bring about the energy disruptions involved which then……...and only then……....can be balanced by applying EFT.  

Without tuning in to the problem, thereby creating those energy disruptions, EFT does nothing.

Step 2. Rate your discomfort level on a scale of 0 to 10.

0 meaning no discomfort and 10 being extreme discomfort.

Step 3. Formulate your Affirmation Statement—Make it specific to you.

“Even though I have this ‘problem’, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

(replace the word “problem” with the issue you are working on)

For example:

"Even though I am terrified of public speaking, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though I have this pounding headache, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though Uncle X abused me when I was 10, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though I have this anger towards my father, I deeply and completely accept myself."

“Even though I was abandoned by my mother, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though I have this stiffness in my neck, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though I have this craving for alcohol/cigarettes/sugar, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though I feel guilty for what I said to my sister, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though I feel empty inside, I deeply and completely accept myself."

“Even though I feel ashamed of my body, I deeply and completely accept myself."

"Even though I have this depression, I deeply and completely accept myself."

These affirmations acknowledge the problem and create self-acceptance despite the existence of the problem.

Step 4: Tap the Karate Chop point whilst saying your affirmation statement, repeating the statement 3 times.

 

 

About the Affirmation Statements:

 

·          It doesn't matter whether you believe the affirmation or not ... just say it.

·          It is better to say it with feeling and emphasis.

·          Make your affirmations specific to you.

 

It is best to say it out loud, but if you are in a social situation where you prefer to mutter it    under your breath...or do it silently...then go ahead. It will still have some effect

 

 

 

Step 5. Tap the sequence points whilst repeating a reminder statement

 

For example:

Affirmation statement: “Even though I feel anxious about my exam, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

Reminder statement: “This exam anxiety.”

 

Affirmation statement: “Even though I have this stiffness in my neck, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

Reminder statement: “Stiffness in my neck.”

 

Affirmation statement: "Even though I have this craving for alcohol/cigarettes/sugar, I deeply and completely accept myself."

Reminder statement: “This craving for alcohol/cigarettes/sugar.”

 

Affirmation statement: “Even though I feel empty inside, I deeply and completely accept myself."

Reminder statement: “I feel empty inside.”

 

 

Order of Tapping:

1. Eye Brow point

2. Side of Eye point

3. Under the Eye point

4. Under the Nose point

5. Under the Chin point

6. Collar bone point (do both sides)

7. Arm Pit point (4” below armpit)

About Tapping:

·          Tap hard enough so that you feel your fingers bounce, but not so hard as to hurt yourself

·          Tap each point 5-10 times

·          It doesn’t matter which side of the body you tap, you can even alternate sides.

·          You can tap one or both sides of the body at the same time.

 

Step 6. Rate your discomfort level on a scale of 0 to 10 (as in step 2)

 

Sometimes the first round of tapping doesn't completely eliminate a problem because a new issue or issues that prevent further progress show themselves via the tapping. These issues, whether images, conversations, interactions or in some other form are in some way related to the first problem being addressed. Sometimes they are part of or the core of the cause, sometimes they are a result. The barrier restricting your emotional health, in other words, is made up of more than one brick and you must eliminate all the bricks.

 

If this is the case, you should do additional rounds of tapping as necessary to eliminate all the issues, but adjust your affirmation slightly as follows for best results:

 

"Even though I still have some of this problem, I deeply and completely accept myself."

 

Note the words "still" and "some" and how they change the thrust of the affirmation toward the remainder of the problem.

 

Important! Keep Well Hydrated.

Water conducts electricity, and EFT accesses the electrical energy that flows through our bodies and minds. It is very important for you to be properly hydrated. Whist working with EFT, regularly sip water.
